How India can become a Super Power In Higher Education by 2030?

The Indian education market is expected to grow 2X to $225 billion by FY25 at 14 per cent CAGR over FY20-25. In fact, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has estimated that India’s EdTech expenditure would reach $10 trillion by 2030.

While the government is investing in terms of expansion, quality and implementation of NEP 2020, the gap in the ratio of seats in good HEI’s compared to the ratio of students seeking admission is still very high.

So, where is the problem? Is India’s primary education behind the fact that most students do not make the cut or is it the huge discrepancy in our education system to which the students are the ultimate victims?

India has merely 0.17 million seats in premier institutions like Delhi University, Mumbai University, IITs, NITs, IIITs, NLUs, AIIMS, IHMs, etc. compared to nearly 10 million students graduate class 12th across central and state boards. So, it is too tough for any student who desires to get admission in premier institution.

No matter whatever efforts Government put towards improvement of education unless there is drastic cultural shift amongst the private universities and private colleges, the improvements of student towards employability is nearly difficult.

How the same can be achieved?

1. Private Institutes need to transform the campus from Affiliated Colleges towards Autonomous Colleges.

2. Faculty need to shift the Focus of students from theory-based activity to Research based Activity.

3. Management of Campuses need to ensure all stakeholders in the campus work towards purpose drive approach.

4. Link all the activity of the campus to Vision, Mission, and Attributes of the Graduate.

5. Tie – up with industry-based activities like Industry Linked Courses, Labs, and Activities.

6. Innovation Centric approach that creates Patents, Products and Start Ups in the campus.
